Karachi; The first flight sent to Yemen to facilitate theevacuation of Pakistanis stranded in the zone of theconflict in the Middle East landed at Karachi airporton Sunday, with around 500 Pakistani citizens onboard.
Citizens arriving were warmly by relatives, socialactivists and political leaders.
About 326 evacuees, who had arrived from Yemen,arrived in Islamabad early Monday in a later flight.The passengers were greeted by a delegation of thePML-N who landed the plane.
Pervaiz Rasheed federal information Minister talkingto comunicacion-personas media said all citizens hadbeen asking for the return of those Pakistanis whowere stranded in the Yemen. The efforts and hardwork of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif allowed thereturn of stranded citizens".
He added that the Prime Minister keeps closecoordination with the pilot of the aircraft thatbrought the stranded Pakistanis of Yemen.
Earlier, Pakistan Ambassador to Yemen Irfan Yousuf,who accompanied compatriots stranded in the flighttalking to a private TV channel said: "I have done myjob".
He said that 496 Pakistanis are evacuated in the firstbatch. They included 116 children. He added that itwill continue to assist in the operation of evacuationof the federal capital.
A PIA crew member told the press that around 500passengers have been brought back on board theflight. He said that a PIA flight will take over 350 ofthese passengers belonging to other parts of thecountry to Islamabad.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed SeniorVice President Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Sindh chapter Shah Muhammad Shah and MPAHumayun Khan to receive families arrived at theKarachi airport.
